REMINDER: TEACHER CONFERENCES ON MARCH 15TH – HALF DAY DISMISSAL
On March 15th there will be a half day dismissal at 11:40am. There will be no afterschool activities that day either.
REMINDER: TEACHER APPRECIATION FEAST – MARCH 15TH
The Spring Staff Appreciation Feast is this Thursday, March 15th, the day of parent/teacher conferences. Please remember to sign up to contribute food and volunteer at the feast. Your class parent will organize your class. The staff has a very long day during conferences and they love this PS10 tradition. Our fall Staff Appreciation Feast was amazing. The family contributions were so delicious and generous and thoughtful. Thank you in advance for making this spring feast just as special. Please consider signing up to help out at the feast. NEW: INFO SESSIONS FOR STATE TESTING – MONDAY, MARCH 19th
8:30am – 9:30am, AND 6:30pm – 7:30pm in the auditorium
Please join us at one of two information sessions and discussions on the upcoming NY State Tests.
Parents of all grade levels are welcome to bring their questions or concerns. Attendees will walk away with a greater understanding of the tests as well as the stakes.
NEW: IT’S THE RETURN OF THE PS10 HAPPY HOUR – WEDNESDAY MARCH 21ST
When: Wednesday, March 21, 5:30–8:30pm
Where: Skylark Bar, 477 Fifth Ave, at 11th St
What: Combat spring fever with refreshing beverages, community spirit and fun tunes spun by PS10 parents Sean Qualls and Paul Kennedy. Drink tickets $6 each, available at the door; half the proceeds go to PS10 PTA, the other half support a PS10 family business. Adults only; bring friends!
SAVE THE DATE: PARENT WORKSHOP: LET’S TALK ABOUT RACE – TUESDAY MARCH 27th, 6:30 – 8:30pm
Please join us for an open discussion on the ways we talk (and don’t talk!) to our children, peers and community about race.
This workshop will involve small group discussions, role-playing and other interactive formats, providing practical strategies for these important and often challenging conversations.
Childcare (with pizza for the kids) will be available. Translation services will be available.

NY INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S FILM FESTIVAL
The 2018 NY International Children’s Film Festival is still going on through March 18th. PS10 earns $3 of each ticket purchased. To buy tickets and raise money for our school simply go http://nyicff.org/tickets/, and select PS10 from the “Select My School” menu option for purchase.
READ-A-THON COMMITTEE MEETING FRIDAY, MARCH 16TH – We will finish tallying minutes and working on prize distribution as well. All are welcome, especially new members who are thinking of joining next year and want to learn more. This meeting will be at 8:30am in the cafeteria.

STEAM Fair 2018 – Call for Volunteers! Our 4th annual STEAM Fair is scheduled for May 19th and we need your help! Join the STEAM Fair Committee on Konstella. NYC KIDS MARCH FOR SAFE STREETS MONDAY, MARCH 12 AT 6 PM
Gather at Prospect Park West and 9th Street. After a driver ran a red light and killed two children in Brooklyn, parents and kids from across New York City are planning a protest march for safe streets. Please join us. D15 DIVERSITY PLAN: PUBLIC WORKSHOP #2 – MARCH 13TH
2nd Public Workshop of the D15 Diversity Plan – A DOE-led community planning process, as part of the Equity and Excellence for All initiative, aimed at increasing diversity in District 15’s middle schools. The Workshop will continue the effort to create diverse, meaningfully integrated middle schools in D15 – from Sunset Park to Park Slope to Red Hook and the neighborhoods in between.

LOST & FOUND
The lost and found area has been completely cleared. Going forward items left over on the bi-weekly collection dates will be donated or discarded. We will make every effort to return articles of clothing to students, and adults, but we are unable to hold items out of concern for cleanliness and sanitation. Please help us to keep our school clean and label all your children’s clothing.
PARENT RESOURCE AREA
The PTA has a parent resource station consisting of a computer and printer for parent use outside of the PTA office in the cafeteria. This area is also where you can find hardcopy forms, signup sheets, and community information from the PTA.
PS 10 GRAND READERS PROGRAM
Join us in the PS 10 Library on Thursday mornings to read with our students! All you need to do is show up! We welcome the gift of your time and attention. This event will be every Thursday from 8:30-10:30 AM. Don’t forget to bring your ID to enter the building.
