REMINDER: PARENT WORKSHOP: LET’S TALK ABOUT RACE – TUESDAY MARCH 27th, 6:30 – 8:30pm
Please join us for an open discussion on the ways we talk (and don’t talk!) to our children, peers and community about race. This workshop will involve small group discussions, role-playing and other interactive formats, providing practical strategies for these important and often challenging conversations.
Childcare (with pizza for the kids) will be available. Translation services will be available.
Presented by PS10 Diversity Committee. Facilitated by Lori Riddick and Sachi Ferris from Raising Race Conscious Children.  Any question, please contact: ps10diversity@gmail.com.

REMINDER: IT’S THE RETURN OF THE PS10 HAPPY HOUR – WEDNESDAY MARCH 21ST
When: Wednesday, March 21, 5:30–8:30pm
Where: Skylark Bar, 477 Fifth Ave, at 11th St
What: Combat spring fever with refreshing beverages, community spirit and fun tunes spun by PS10 parents Sean Qualls and Paul Kennedy. Drink tickets $6 each, available at the door; half the proceeds go to PS10 PTA, the other half support a PS10 family business. Adults only; bring friends

REMINDER: MARCH 30TH SPRING BREAK BEGINS ON FRIDAY!
School is out through April 6th and will be back in session on Monday, April 9.

SAVE THE DATE: APRIL 17TH at 6pm -Title 1 Workshop: Where Did You Hear That?! Negotiating uncomfortable conversations with kids about their bodies and sexuality.
Kids have lots of questions, especially when it comes to bodies and sexuality. Jeremy Hawkins (Chair of the Health Department at Brooklyn Friends School, graduate of Teachers College Columbia University, and Camp Life Director at Beam Camp, NH) teaches Health and Human Sexuality to grades 4-10—and has been answering those very questions for years.  Jeremy will discuss the topics that young people start asking, and share his expertise around how to talk to kids about their bodies, sexuality and growing up in an increasingly complicated world.  Q & A to follow.
This is event is Free.

REMINDER: S.T.E.A.M. FAIR MEETING – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
STEAM Fair 2018 – Call for Volunteers! Our 4th annual STEAM Fair is scheduled for May 19th and we need your help! Join the STEAM Fair Committee on Konstella. For questions, please contact steamfair@pta.ps10.org.  There will also be a meeting Wednesday, March 21st,8:30am.  Please join us in the cafeteria after drop-off for a STEAM Fair planning meeting. The event is May 19th, and there’s a lot of organizing to do now. We welcome all volunteers.  If you can’t make it to the meeting, you can still help from home! CEC15 is a state-mandated public body, independent of the DOE, that advocates for D15’s public elementary and middle school students and their families. 

 

ONGOING ANNOUNCEMENTS

LOST & FOUND
The lost and found area has been completely cleared. Going forward items left over on the bi-weekly collection dates will be donated or discarded.  We will make every effort to return articles of clothing to students, and adults, but we are unable to hold items out of concern for cleanliness and sanitation. Please help us to keep our school clean and label all your children’s clothing.

PARENT RESOURCE AREA
The PTA has a parent resource station consisting of a computer and printer for parent use outside of the PTA office in the cafeteria. This area is also where you can find hardcopy forms, signup sheets, and community information from the PTA.

PS 10 GRAND READERS PROGRAM
Join us in the PS 10 Library on Thursday mornings to read with our students! All you need to do is show up! We welcome the gift of your time and attention. This event will be every Thursday from 8:30-10:30 AM. Don’t forget to bring your ID to enter the building.
