TITLE 1 WORKSHOP: PARENTING IN THE DIGITAL AGE, TUESDAY – Tuesday, JUNE 5th, 6:00pm
Do you ever feel like digital media is taking over your family? Do you wonder how social media is affecting your child’s development? Are your own relationships being impacted by digital distractions? If so, you are not alone!

Please join Jay Alicea MS Ed and Fara Jones MA, LCSW as they discuss:

  • Understanding today’s Digital Child
  • Managing Screen-Time (for kids and for parents)
  • Cyberbullying, Cyber-Safety and Digital Footprint
  • Encouraging Home Media Environments that Support Relationships

There will be free pizza and childcare for students

 

PS10 SCHOOL CARNIVAL – Friday, June 8th
PS10’s annual carnival will take place in the schoolyard, during the day, every grade will have an opportunity to be part of the fun.  This is a “not-for-profit” carnival and is supported donations from grandparents and our school community. The goal of the carnival is to enhance our school spirit and foster social emotional development through collaboration and play.

Planning is already underway and we are looking for volunteers.

For this event to be an incredible experience, for our students, we need your help.  If you are interested in volunteering, please fill in the bottom section and return to my mailbox by Thursday, May 31.  Here is a link to the form on Konstella.

 

BROOKLYN CYCLONES GAME – Monday, June 18, 7pm
On Monday, June 18th , PS10 is planning a “School Spirit Night” at MCU Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones. Come to historic Coney Island to see the Cyclones take on the Staten Island Yankees. This night is a great way to celebrate the end of the school year, inject school spirit and enjoy a summer evening with family and friends. Join us and wear your PS10 shirt!

When: 6/20/2017
Where: MCU Park – 1904 Surf Avenue , Brooklyn
Time: 7pm (Gates at 5.30PM)
Price: $18 per ticket

PARK SLOPE STREET SAFETY TOWN HALL – Wednesday, May 30, 6:30 to 8:30pm
Park Slope Street Safety Partnership is working with City Council Member Brad Lander and the New York City Department of Transportation to host a public workshop on neighborhood street safety.  We’re asking your help in identifying dangerous locations around Park Slope, including streets where speeding is a chronic problem, intersections at which drivers routinely fail to yield, and places where you generally feel safety could be improved.

Join us to help pinpoint the danger zones, and to learn about potential solutions in NYCDOT’s toolkit. Here are the details:

ONGOING ANNOUNCEMENTS

LOST & FOUND
The lost and found area has been completely cleared. Going forward items left over on the bi-weekly collection dates will be donated or discarded.  We will make every effort to return articles of clothing to students, and adults, but we are unable to hold items out of concern for cleanliness and sanitation. Please help us to keep our school clean and label all your children’s clothing.

PARENT RESOURCE AREA
The PTA has a parent resource station consisting of a computer and printer for parent use outside of the PTA office in the cafeteria. This area is also where you can find hardcopy forms, signup sheets, and community information from the PTA.

PS 10 GRAND READERS PROGRAM
Join us in the PS 10 Library on Thursday mornings to read with our students! All you need to do is show up! We welcome the gift of your time and attention. This event will be every Thursday from 8:30-10:30 AM. Don’t forget to bring your ID to enter the building.
