 Weds, October 10, 8:30am  | Title 1 Meeting

Title I is a federal program that provides certain schools with supplementary funds to meet every child’s educational needs.  As a Title 1 school, PS10 is mandated to spend 1% of these federal funds on Parent Engagement, since studies have proven that an engaged family makes a qualitative difference in a child’s educational success.  Come learn more about Title 1 and be part of the conversation about how to allocate our Parent Engagement funds this year!

 

Sat., October 13, 11am–4pm | Tenstock!

We’ll have LIVE MUSIC, bounce houses, games, sports, crafts, a chili cook-off, delicious food, face-painting, and more!   Tickets are $10/person, $35 for a family four-pack. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. All proceeds support the PS10 PTA.
Call for Volunteers! – Please sign up for a 2-hour shift on Konstella. We need help to run all these great activities and make the day happen. Volunteers receive FREE TICKETS to the event. Help out for a bit, stay for a whole day of family fun!
Bake Sale & Chili Cook-Off – Please bring baked goods for our bake sale. And if you’re feeling brave – you can enter our chili cook-off. Winner gets free classes at Brooklyn Center Stage! Fill out the PTA forms or email us for more info.
Call For Recycled Materials  – Please bring cardboard paper towel rolls and metal bottle caps and put them in the collection bin located outside the PTA office in the cafeteria. We will be collecting through next Friday, 10/12 to use for a Tenstock activity.

 

Weds., October 17, Sustainability Committee Meeting

Join us for the first Sustainability Committee meeting on Wednesday, October 17th in the cafeteria at 8:30 am after drop-off. Our team of parents works closely with teachers, staff and students to increase awareness of environmental issues, provide educational opportunities for PS 10 students and families, and promote more sustainable practices.

 

Thurs., October 18, PTA General Meeting

Join us for the PTA General Meeting! This is your opportunity to hear from the PTA about upcoming events, get a report from Principal Scott and much more. We will be voting on new board members at this meeting as well.  If you’re unable to attend, watch on Facebook Live by visiting our Facebook page.   Pizza will be available at 6pm, and childcare will begin at 6:30pm

Tickets are on sale now for PS10’s annual auction and gala fundraiser, ISLAND DREAMS! Join us at Littlefield in Gowanus for open bar, live music, delicious food, and hundreds of fabulous items and experiences up for auction. Click here for tickets and more info.

Ms. Chocolate Fundraiser  

The catalogs have been delivered and the time is ticking!  You have a month to collect orders from family, friends, work colleagues, and most importantly grandparents!!!  The PTA will make approximately 45% on the gross income – so not only is this is a great way to shop for the holidays you can also support the PTA!  There are great prizes for the top sellers and for classes that reach 100% participation!  And did you notice, there is a super BMX bike that will be raffled off – sell 5 items and you are entered into the raffle!!

Bringing Hockey to Physical Education

The Physical Education curriculum is planned around the sports and games the students ask us the gym teachers to learn, including themes, as well as ones they want to play. This is the first year we will be teaching our students hockey. They will learn the history of hockey and basic skills from holding a hockey stick to passing and scoring.  The teachers are asking to families to donate money to purchase the equipment; visit their Donors Choose page at this link.

 

Shopping for 10 – Amazon and Others

The Konstella Amazon program helps PS10 earn money shopping on Amazon. Konstella will donate 2% back to PS10. In order for the purchases to be eligible, parents must go to https://www.konstella.com/amazon (or click on any Amazon link on Konstella) to shop. We will also receive the donation if you have PS10 listed on your smile account, just click on the Konstella link every time to purchase. PS10 Breast Cancer Walk

The Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk in Brooklyn is Sunday, October 21, 2018. It will be at Coney Island Boardwalk in MCU Park starting at 10am. To help us reach our goal this year, we will be selling treats and other items (ranging from $1 to $5). The PS 10 lunchtime fundraising will take place on Wednesdays beginning on September 26, 2018 during the lunch periods (11:15am–12:45pm) in the back of the PS 10 Cafeteria. Please help us by allowing your child to make a purchase, by making an online donation and/or by joining our walk.
